Animation: Nürnberg-Fürther Stadtkanal 'The Dream'

A showcase of my key projects

Cinema advert campaign highlighting urban and environmental issues.

Created for the Nürnberg-Fürther Stadtkanalverein, The Dream is an animated cinema advert imagining two contrasting visions of the city. The film follows a sleeping character who experiences a nightmare dominated by traffic, noise and congestion before waking to a vibrant urban landscape centred on green public space, water and community life.

Originally screened at Casablanca Filmkunsttheater in Nuremberg, the animation was later adapted for social media and campaign use. With no voice-over narration, the story relies on visual storytelling and sound design to convey its emotional journey. Traffic noise and passing vehicles give way to birdsong, flowing water and everyday social activity, reinforcing the transition from an environment shaped by infrastructure to one designed around people and place.

The project was inspired by ongoing discussions about the future of the Frankenschnellweg corridor and the possibility of reintroducing the historic Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal, reflecting urban transformations seen in cities such as Seoul, Utrecht and Siegen.
